Rescuing winter skin

The winter months are always hard on my skin. I have quite dry skin anyway, so add in the freezing weather, going in and out of heated buildings and the general trials of winter and I turn into one scale-y being. Although I try to keep on top of a good skin care regime there’s no stopping the effects that winter has on it, and it’s not until around this time of year that I really get back to my non-lizard like self. There are a few new products that I’ve added to my routine that I feel are finally helping me look at little it perkier and ready for spring. Lord knows, we are all ready for a little bit of sunshine and blossom!

  1. The Body Shop Spa of the World Japanese Camellia Cream

However much of a mouthful the name is, this stuff is a dream for dry limbs and body parts. I was treated to this at Christmas and I’m still making my way through it, even though I use it pretty much everyday. I keep it in my bathroom and apply a nice light covering after my shower. It’s great for legs and arms and smells AH-MA-ZING!

2. Nivea Men Sensitive Moisturiser

Yes, this is a mens product. It was actually a tip off from my boyfriend. It’s the moisturiser that he uses and on the one (or two…) occasions that I’ve had to borrow some, it’s been one of the most moisturising creams I’ve used on my skin in a long time. It’s quite thick, but it sinks in really quickly and smells super nice too. A win-win to tackle any dry patches left over from winter.

3. L’Occitane Light Comforting Cream

I snagged a small sample pot of this recently and have been using it almost daily since. It’s quite light, but still get some good moisture in there. It will definitely be something I pick up more in summer as it will be perfect at sinking in quickly before putting make up on.

4. L’Occitane Face Comforting Oil

Again, another little sample pot, but another really great introduction into my skin care routine. I’ve read many times that the more moisturising oils you put on your skin, the less greasy oils your skin produces during the day. I pop a little bit of this on at night in combination with a cream and it’s slowly working it’s magic on my winter ravaged face.

5. Nivea Daily Essentials Regenerating Night Cream

I started using this in desperation when my normal cream was not doing a good enough job. It’s super thick and quite heavy, but once it’s on at night I just leave it to do its thing and when I wake up its all gone and not at all greasy.

6. The Body Shop Almond Hand Cream

Let talk about hands for a second. Mine have suffered since my barista days, washing up and failing to take my gloves out with me. This hand cream works a treat though. It’s quite thick and takes a little bit of working in, but doesn’t take to long to sink in. They’re not quite youthful hands yet, but they’re getting there!

Hopefully with the help of these lotions and potions my skin will be ready to be bared in a few weeks! What other items do you use to help with your skin? I’m always interested in trying new products, so do let me know. Don’t forget to follow me on Bloglovin and Instagram to catch my other spring related posts coming up!
