Seasonal eating at the Ethicurean in Bristol

Is there a more perfect way to launch yourself into autumn than with a Sunday lunch? I think not.

Last Sunday, on a beautiful sunny day that had just about enough crisp-ness to count as autumnal, Dom and I headed out of Bristol to the Ethicurean.

Based in the pretty little village of Wrington, the Ethicurean has been building quite the name for themselves, producing some of the freshest, seasonal meals around.

And really, words don’t do it justice, so I’ll just let you look at the photos for a while.

We had some lovely pork, with varies purees (I’ve got all the lingo…), with roast potatoes that have been in my dreams every night since.

Just joking…

We sat in the little conservatory, basking in late afternoon sunshine, content that we’s chosen the best way to end the weekend.

Then pottered around their walled garden, taking in all the hundreds of vegetable delights that they are growing for autumn.

You can even buy some should you be needing anything for the week. One thing I love about autumn is a great bowl of soup at lunchtime. The only thing that spices up the day spend at my office desk, and the Ethicurean had some cracking winter squash available for just that.

Make sure you swing by before the menu changes to something more wintery – or just pop back again for round two! I’m not judging, I’ll probably see you there…

I am in full autumn mode now, where most of my time will be spent under a blanket watching Escape to the Chateau, or crunching through autumn leaves if you believe all that happens on Instagram… The only thing I can hope is that I haven’t hit peak autumn just yet.
